Health Benefits of Owning a Pet

Posted on January 5, 2018

Pet owners know how much their furry friend improves their quality of life. But it’s not all about the unconditional love – although that provides a wellness boost too. On an emotional level, owning a pet can decrease depression, stress and anxiety. It has also been proven to lower blood pressure, lower cholesterol, prevent strokes, prevent allergies and improve immunity. I am the owner of 4 dogs. Now you might say why four? Was I seeking the ultimate state of health and wellness? I think most of these studies relate to the benefits of owning a pet.
I possibly went a little overboard with four. But I can tell you after a stressful day at work, coming home to be greeted by four loyal and loving dogs is a great way to wind down and relax. Oh yes, and to spend time with my spouse is also the perfect combination. So if you’re seeking ways to improve your health and wellness look no further than your local pet store or animal shelter and enjoy the adventure. You would be surprised as to the positive impact of your health and state of mind once you do.
